50’s and 60’s

Italian reconstruction and economic boom

During these decades of fast growing economy and fast changing social environment, Saporiti Italia set its particular international and avant-garde style.

The first pieces of furniture of the Saporiti of the times were clearly influenced by emerging Scandinavian design, but with a special touch of Italian elegance in the use of finishing and materials. In 1965 Sergio Saporiti started a fruitful and “scientific” collaboration with one of the masters of Italian architecture and design of all times: Alberto Rosselli.

Together they created a series of pieces of furniture – the Jumbo chair, the Moby Dick chaise longue, the Confidential sofa – which are still in the history of modern design, for their originality, their innovation in the use of the plastic materials, their concept of modular industrial production.
