Martí Guixé

Martí Guixé

The colors I have chosen for the Jumbo chairs refer to edible things.

They are dense and low-tech colors, selected to make the Jumbo chair more physical, with density and weight, similar to an object that can be found in real life.

Born in Barcelona in 1964, Martí Guixé studied interior and industrial design in Barcelona and in Milan and he works for corporations all over the world, from his offices in Barcelona and Berlin.

Since the beginning of his work, he focused his attention on the culture of products, on the introduction of design in the food sector and on doing presentations through performances.
His non-conventional perspective gives brilliant and simple ideas to a serious and professional curiosity.
He published several books, including Casa Mondo: Food, On Flower Power, Food Designing, Don´t buy it if you don´t need it and Marti Guixe´s Camper Commodityscapes.
His studies, works and performances have been hosted by many important museums and art galleries, such as MoMA in New York, MuDAC in Lausanne, MACBA in Barcelona, La Galleria Nazionale in Rome, and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
He has been awarded the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize in 1999, the National Design Prize of the Generalitat de Catalunya in 2007, the Madrid Design Festival Award in 2018.
Since 2014 he is the professor of Food Design at Scuola Politecnica di Milano.

He did several collaborations and projects with Saporiti Italia, including the company headquarters in Besnate (Saporiti Hub), a series of installations at Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, the Candy Restaurant performance in Tokyo and Sedna Kitchen in Milano, the new Saporiti Italia offices in Dubai.
